I updated my Mac to El Capitan and have not been able to reinstall Dropbox.Hy, I googled for the difference between full backup by dropbox and the regular dropbox. On the dropbox site I found this answer: Computer backup applies to entire folders on your PC or Mac. When you enable computer backup, files saved in folders like Desktop, Documents, and Downloads are automatically and continuously synced to your Dropbox account so you don’t have to drag them manually.I have uninstalled it, downloaded a newest version from the website but it does not work.I was in a similar situation.Still does not work.Could anybody help ? I would like to subscribe for a Pro account at Dropbox to sync all my personal files, but I cannot do until I am sure I can solve this problem. Then, you can remove the Dropbox folder from the Mac or rename it, so that when you reinstall you can setup the app as new, and sync the data down from your account online. If you have enough space on your computer, you can keep the whole 'old' Dropbox folder on your computer and just rename it before reinstalling the app.She setup Dropbox and set it to backup her Desktop and Documents.
